Crashes so much, app needs to be updated. Waste of $2
This is really a terrible application. I want my money back. I am a specialist in earthquake engineer and this app is useless
It is great app for recording vibrations and it is very sensitive, but it constantly crashes during playback of recording. Wasted money!
If you have a lot of data the app will just crash- totally useless. We had an earthquake in Los Angeles about an hour ago, and I wanted to show off this app, but it only crashes when you try to look at a history file that recorded for only 13 hours. It won’t email or send to documents which does nothing. I tried accessing the data from my MacBook Pro using an iPhone backup program, and the app no longer will allow access to its folders. Wish I could see the data. If the developer wants to reach me feel free to email me. I like the display screen but too bad it didn’t perform when I needed it to.
Thanks for updating for iOS 11 support! Been a fan of this app. Even though I use it once in a while for fun, it is quite useful for detecting vibrations. I can actually see my heart beating now if I put my phone up to my heart. It's really sensitive. I like it!!
This ap is great for apartment vibration. The bezel filter is perfect for detecting floor vibration, and the ability to save and export vibration recording is perfect for proving to apartment staff that something should be done. Gentlemen. Apple has declared that this app needs to be updated. I really like the app and request that steps be taken to modernize it so we can all continue to use it.
Someone asked for a use-case - ie why would I want this app? Night photography: How still really is your camera for a long exposure shot? Take a measure, adjust as needed. This is a great app and fun. Would love see some stats that can viewed and saved for later comparison. The Roller Coaster Physics app is along the lines of this app, and now allows you to email a full run of the measurements for later loading into Excel or other app. Looking forward to a new version
Best seismometer app IMO
Would like to have X Y Z on different pens. Also to have numbers on the chart. One more request have a adjustable limit marker and if reading is detected Above set limit optional audio alert. Other then this wish list the app is great . Yes, this is exactly what I would do and want. This app has the best animated PIN draw then all the rest available.
I know there are only two other reviews that give high praise, but one must be from the developer. This seismometer only displays one axis at a time…. a bit useless if you a trying to record all 3 or even just two for that matter. The streaming feature SEEMS to work well…. except it only displays the Z axis even if you select the Y or X axis. It will ONLY stream the Z axis. Since earthquakes and other shaking rarely occur on a single axis, and most are rarely on the Z axis (up/down), this is completely useless. Allow displaying/recording of multiple axis, and allow the stream to display ANY other axis besides the Z axis, and it will be a GREAT app.
Outstanding app. The streaming feature works incredibly well. Support by the developer is excellent also.
I love the app but it is actually supposed to be called Seismograph
Needs to be compatible with the new iPhone 5 and iPod touch. Otherwise, GREAT!!!
Nice UI and functionality, but the app exits itself a lot. Arguably better than free apps available. Don't waste your dollar. Purchased 9 Nov 2012 Using iPhone 4s, iOS 6.0.1.
It's cools.
It makes the screen turn off at random I ended up deleting it.
just works, great User interface
That about sums it up. The accelerometer capabilities of the iPod/phone were easily displayed in the old version. Now i have to shake the thing for results.
I love the Seismometer, don't get me wrong, but I bought my iPhone 4 the other day, opened Seismo up and it's flatlining like a raghead at the wrong end of a .50 BMG. It used to work fine on my 1st gen, but I haven't used it since before this new, insensitive version of Seismometer everyone is complaining about came out. I used to love the sensitivity of it, where you could put it on a countertop and the vibrations through the house would register. Don't dumb it down to the level of gorillas handling Samsonite luggage, keep it sensitive. You know, like a real seismometer. And please make it work with the iPhone 4! I'll be glad to rate it 5 stars.
Was pretty and fast on 3GS. Slow and pixelated on iPhone 4.
I love this seismometer reading device, and it works well too!
1) Full iPhone 4 support. 2) Fix bugs.
Awful since the update.
This version is absolute rubbish. It's whopping 2 settings can't even be changed in the app itself. It's key feature is to be record or broadcast of data; Who would ever do that and why? This is NOT a scientific instrument, and little short of touching the device will show anything. Awful. Prior version showed 10x more sensitivity with more features and was good fun. This 'update' literally ruined everything and is being promptly deleted. A shame, since this was quite unique before.
Used to be awesome. Now I can't adjust sensitivity. Used it to meaure car audio affects on my dash, but not anymore.
Before 2.0 this app was great...but now. I was hoping when i reviewed this i would give it alot of stars, but until it is fixed ill have to give it 2. Please fix!! Looking foward to the old sensitivity with the new features that came with 2.0.
The 2.0 update removed some useful features from this app. Please bring back the noise filter preference. With the noise filter off in v1.x this app could be used to measure ones own heartbeat, sadly this is no longer possible. Lots of the apps sensitivity is lost in the latest update.
I've had this app for a long time, and have used it to demonstrate the accelerometer in the iPhone. The latest update seems to have greatly reduced the sensitivity even if you go to the settings page and turn on all 3 axes. This needs to be addressed, perhaps with a slider bar for each axis to adjust sensitivity. Speaking of the settings page, why the author chose to bury it in the main setting page for the phone is beyond me. It is way too cumbersome that way. Why not just an "i" as most apps have? The problem is if the icon for the app is several pages away from the settings page icon, it is quite difficult to go back and make changes. This REALLY needs to be fixed. Also needed are some (at least rudimentary) instructions and help pages. The update appears to have included some sharing features, but without instructions, they are worthless. Until these are fixed, I can't rate it much above 3 stars.
Great job on the redesign! Love it! :)
An excellent application that has the sensitivity to detect if my tv is muted or not from across the room.
OK app for what I use it for. Only problem is that recording and playback later of the traces would enhance this app much more. Exporting to a desktop or database (csv, xls, etc) would be even better. Until then its only a toy.
This is a very helpful app for watching events live. This needs a data logger. If events happen over a paramater the user sets the time and size of the event can be logged and reviewed later. That needs to go in an update please.
needs more updates It needs.. ability to save recordings as flash video to see recordings like they are just happening zoom out to see more of the recording give ratings 1 to 10 on the seismograph, so you know how it rates up to real quakes ability to save as photo with emailing ability just in case a very interesting quake happens
Thank you very much for such an inovative app.
It's way better if it's free... And it made my screen go blank and I had to restore my iPod touch.
Perfect except for one thing, in pause-mode you should be able to scroll backwards and see previous records.
I like this simple design but there is free one called iSeismometer...
Well worth a the price. Found many uses for this appt. Great for any paranormal researcher. But the one major downside is that you can pause it and go back. It must need a update so I can scroll back. Overall well worth the price and fun to play with.
Any chance we can get a record capability to save the data? Now that would make this actually useful. As it is, it's pretty fun to watch, but you can only see a few seconds worth of the chart :(
=| but u cnt scroll back
Absolutly great app and they need to have it so it uses the richter scale but still worth the dollar
Would redo my review with a 5 when I can scroll and send my graph via email or also archive them for future refrence app has awesome potentials I even paid for it :)
2 thumbs up
Maybe for a future version add time markings, scrolling and saving or sending features. Fun app when I downloaded but much cooler app since the recent update.
This is the best app ever!!! All I ask is if you can please please please update it and make it so you can scroll backwards when paused.
Awesome but needs to be able to scroll when on pause also needs to inform you when there's an earthquake. I'm reviewing this cause I just felt one.
They make it sound so amazing but u get bored of it in about 4 seconds.
Works as described.
Optional needle, green line on black graph, varible sensitivity. Excellent frame rate! Thank you.
